iPhone 6s plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 3: Device from Xiaomi comes with similar design

When it comes to smartphones, one of the most popular is the iPhone 6s Plus. But with similar metal-bodied devices arriving with cheaper prices, competition for the device has been heating up. Here is how the phablet-sized device from Apple compares to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

Here, the iPhone 6s Plus has a very slim lead as it has metal body that has been crafted from 7000 series aluminum and is, therefore, less prone to bending. It has rounded edges and the great design elements that are often featured in Apple's lineup and its fingerprint scanner is incorporated into its home button. As for colors, the device comes in gray, gold, silver and rose gold. Compared to this, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a similar design and comes with a metal body. However, the fingerprint scanner on the device is positioned at its rear and in terms of colors, there are three options: silver, gray and gold.

Coming to display size and quality, both these devices are almost similar as each has an IPS LCD version measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch. However, the iPhone 6s Plus has an advantage in the form 3D Touch, which can sense the amount of pressure being applied to the screen by the user's fingertips.

The Note 3 comes with a Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 chipset, which is coupled with an octa-core CPU and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. As for the iPhone 6s Plus, it has an Apple A9 chipset coupled with a dual core CPU and a PowerVR GT7600 GPU.

There is no memory slot on either of these devices so external storage cannot be tacked on. As for RAM, the Note 3 has either 2 GB or 3 GB while the iPhone 6s Plus has 2 GB.

In terms of camera quality, the iPhone 6s Plus is ahead and its 12-megapixel camera has a good ranking on DxOMark but the 16-megapixel camera on the Redmi Note 3 has not been ranked.

Comparing prices, the iPhone 6s Plus costs $299 with a two year contract while the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is much cheaper and starts at $140 unlocked.
